I consider this one of the best openings of a movie...pretty much ever. American Psycho is one of my favorites. I used to identify a lot with Patrick Bateman's total inability to connect with himself or the world around him ("I simply am not there."). Granted I never quite identified with his murderous rampages, but this movie does an excellent job of portraying someone so incredibly disconnected that murderous rampages become as commonplace as brushing your teeth. Amazing movie. Even more amazing and disturbing in its book form.
American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis- check it out only if your stomach is strong.
The last 30 seconds or so of this clip are my favorite...but thankfully the similarities between myself and Patrick are fading more and more every day.
